BBandsStopsAlert
Download scriptThis tool is designed to help traders identify market trends and determine specific price levels where a trend might be losing momentum or reversing. It functions by analyzing the relationship between current market prices and a statistical volatility indicator known as Bollinger Bands.
Core Logic and Functionality
Trend Detection The script constantly monitors whether the market price is breaking above or below the outer boundaries of the Bollinger Bands.
- Upward Trend: When the price closes above the upper boundary, the tool recognizes an upward move.
- Downward Trend: When the price closes below the lower boundary, the tool recognizes a downward move.
When a significant shift occurs—such as moving from a downward trend into an upward trend—the script is capable of triggering an audible alert to notify the user in real-time.
Dynamic Support and Resistance (Trailing Stops) Rather than just identifying the current trend, the tool calculates specific "Stop" levels. These act as dynamic lines that follow the price:
- In an uptrend, the tool tracks a trailing support level. It identifies the lowest point reached during the move and "locks" it in, ensuring that the line only moves upward as the price progresses.
- In a downtrend, the tool tracks a trailing resistance level. It identifies the highest point reached during the move and "locks" it, ensuring the line only moves downward as the price falls.
Risk Adjustment The logic includes a customizable "Money Risk" factor. This allows users to mathematically offset the support and resistance lines. By adjusting this, you can make the stop levels wider or narrower relative to the volatility of the market, providing a customized buffer between the current price and the potential reversal point.
Visual Output Options The script provides three different ways to view this data on your chart:
- Signals: It can place specific visual icons (arrows) on the chart at the exact moment a trend change is detected.
- Stops: It can display the continuous trailing lines that follow the price action.
- Combined View: You can choose to see both the alerts/signals and the trailing lines simultaneously to get a full picture of the market structure.
In summary, this script automates the process of "trailing" your stops by identifying trend breaks and maintaining a moving safety line that adjusts based on market volatility and user-defined risk preferences.
